On Friday (January 25), Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson, better known as the duo Jack & Jack, released their debut album A Good Friend Is Nice.
Armed with relatable bops about love, life and everything in between, A Good Friend Is Nice is a cohesive offering which follows up from Jack & Jack’s previous EPs Gone and Calibraska.
You will already recognise their huge hit ‘Rise’, a collaboration with British DJ and producer Jonas Blue, whilst the album also includes the previously released ‘No One Compares To You’ and ‘2 Cigarettes’.
However, the 12-track album also includes a string of new songs from the Nebraska duo, which prove exactly why Jack & Jack are going to reach stratospheric new heights of success this year.
Whilst the whole album is worth listening to, we’ve rounded up five of favourite songs from Jack & Jack’s A Good Friend Is Nice for your enjoyment.
‘Lotta Love’
‘Lotta Love’ sees Jack & Jack come to the realisation that their partners might not love them anymore. Whilst they want to try and save the situation, they acknowledge that they love them so much that letting them go is the best thing to do as they want their partners to be happy. The mid-tempo offering has an anthemic chorus which is bound to be stuck in your head after just one listen.

‘April Gloom’
‘April Gloom’ is a trap-pop inspired which allows Johnson’s rapping to shine, whilst Gilinsky offers up a catchy chorus. The track builds to a crescendo with an intoxicating guitar instrumental which fits perfectly with the slick trap beat, before the sound of April showers brings the song to an end.

‘Promise Me’
‘Promise Me’ is a striking euphoric ballad which focuses on the fear of falling in too deep when it comes to loving someone. What started out as a bit of fun has turned into something serious however, confirmation is needed that it’s safe to give into their feelings. We’re obsessed with the chorus, which shows the duo’s vulnerability and sensitivity.
I’m getting too high to fall
Feel naked and vulnerable
Come lay it down for me honestly
If it’s safe to love, love you
Then you should promise me
‘Meet U In The Sky’
Bringing Johnson’s rapping and Gilinsky’s vocals to the track in equal measure, ‘Meet U In The Sky’ carries a little of the vulnerability from ‘Promise Me’. This time, the duo are head over heels in love but question whether or not their partners feel the same. However, the electrifying feeling they experience when they’re with their loves overpowers any feeling of doubt. The track is delivered over a catchy, danceable beat, making this one of our favourite bops on the album.

‘Day Dreaming’
Jack & Jack have been performing ‘Day Dreaming’ for a long time now during their shows so their die hard fans are already more than familiar with it. However, the dreamy studio version is even more perfect and we’re blessed to be able to play it on repeat.
