Fans of Haribo gummy bears are berry perplexed to learn the real flavor of its green bear.

A resurfaced post on Reddit pictures a Haribo bag that identifies each bear’s flavor by color.

While most consumers would associate the green bear with a green apple, lime, or even watermelon flavor, in most places, the green Goldbear is actually strawberry flavored.

“HARIBO’s mission is to inspire childlike happiness through our gummi treats, and we love surprising consumers with fun flavor, shape, color and texture combinations,” the company said in a statement to The Post.

“Strawberry Goldbear being green is a perfect example of a surprise and delight, and we want to make sure Raspberry Goldbear shines on its own as red, along with Orange, Lemon and of course Pineapple,” they added.

Gummy lovers also learned that Hans Riegel, who established the company in 1920, named Haribo by taking the first two letters of his first name, last name, and the city where he was born, namely Bonn, Germany.

But it’s the surprising flavor of the green gummy bear that had social media on a sugar high.

“20 years of living and it’s only now that I figured out that the green Haribo gummy bear is actually strawberry flavored,” one bamboozled fan tweeted.

“No one asked but the green Haribo gummy bear flavor is strawberry and I find that misleading,” one boldly claimed.

“Am I the only one who didn’t know that the green Haribo gummy bear is strawberry flavored and not lime?!” one person did, in fact, ask.

“Calling the police over whether the green Haribo gummy bears are strawberry or apple,” one shocked consumer wrote.

“Do you guys ever think about how the green Haribo gummy bear is the strawberry-flavored one,” another pondered.

“This fact has haunted my brain for years,” someone responded with a picture of the packaging.

Another also vented their concern, though good-naturedly.

“The fact that the green Haribo gummy bear is strawberry bothers me lol,” they wrote.
