According to a report from People.com, Kellyanne Conway managed to incite the wrath of Taylor Swift’s fanbase after she used Swift’s lyrics as part of her criticism of Taylor’s statement on the Equality Act while at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.
During an appearence on Fox News this past Tuesday, the senior White House aide said that the 29-year-old singer/songwriter is entitled to her perspective, however, she has already gone up against the president once before but she lost.
Swift, while at the VMAs, reportedly urged for the Senate to vote on the Equality Act. However, Kellyanne Conway used the singer’s very own lyrics against her, even going so far as breaking into song on the show citing the lyrics, “If you say it on the street, that’s a knock-out/if you put in a tweet, that’s a cop-out.”

Conway went on to say that she believes Hollywood and other people in the entertainment industry become political for the sake of popularity and fashion, however, there have been times where it has backfired. Conway cited Marsha Blackburn’s victory over the Democrat, Phil Bredesen. Taylor endorsed Phil.
Consequently, many of Taylor’s fans came out in defense of the singer, with one in particular writing, “Swifties, it’s time. We’ve been training for this moment, this is the boss level.” Ryan Ferreira, on Twitter, wrote that it was time to “take down” the Presidential aide.
Swift, while at the VMAs this past Monday, promoted the Equality Act, which is supposed to bar people from discriminating against someone for sexual orientation or gender identity.
During the same speech, Taylor said it had half-a-million signatures, meaning that it has more than five times the amount for the White House to take notice.

In the past, Taylor managed to stay out of politics in her career, however, recently, she came out to say that it was time for her to use her platform for more political purposes. When Taylor took to her social media to discuss politics, specifically, the race between Marsha Blackburn and Phil Bredesen, multiple reports indicated there was a massive increase in voter registration in her home state of Tennessee.
